How does review link protection work?

Every review link has a protection mode you set when creating the request. All three are included on every plan, Free and Pro. Choose from three options in the Review Protection selector:

Anyone with link (default): Anyone who has the URL can access the review. The reviewer is asked for their name before viewing, so you always know who accessed the file.

Password: Require a code or password before the reviewer can access the file. Useful for sensitive work. Note: this is considered less secure since the password can be forwarded along with the link.

Account required: The reviewer must sign in to a File Approved account to view the file. This is the most secure option, as it ties access to a verified identity.

Repeated wrong password guesses are throttled. The limit applies to whoever is doing the guessing, not to the link, so your client is never locked out because someone else got it wrong.

You can change the protection mode for a request from the request detail view on your dashboard.
