Player keyboard shortcuts and JKL shuttle

The video and audio players in File Approved use the same transport controls an editor already knows from an NLE, so you can find a moment without reaching for the mouse.

Space bar: press space to play and pause. If you have just clicked a control with your mouse, space still plays rather than repeating that button. If you reached a button by pressing Tab, space activates the button you are on, the way it does everywhere else.

Skip buttons: the two circular arrows either side of play jump back and forward 5 seconds. They work on video and audio, in every view, including full screen.

Comma and period: press , to jump back 5 seconds and . to jump forward 5 seconds. These do the same thing as the skip buttons.

J, K and L shuttle: press L to play forward and K to pause. Press L again to speed up through 2x, 4x, 8x and 16x. Press J to shuttle backward through the same speeds. J and L work as one shuttle, so pressing the opposite key slows you down a notch and passes through a stop before reversing.

Slow motion: hold K and press L for slow motion forward, or hold K and press J for slow motion backward. Playback returns to a stop as soon as you let go.

Above 2x the audio is muted, the same way an editing timeline behaves when you scrub, and the current shuttle speed is shown on screen so you always know which direction and speed you are in.

Shortcuts are ignored while you are typing, so you can write a comment containing a comma, a space or the letter K without the player reacting.
