What happens when you archive a request?

Archiving is how you retire a job once it is signed off. The request moves out of your active dashboard list into the Archived filter, and the review link you sent stops opening the file.

To archive a request, open it and choose Archive, or click the archive icon on the request card on your dashboard. You can unarchive at any time.

What your client sees. Anyone who opens an archived link gets a screen headed "This review has been archived", telling them the file is not available at that link any more and that they should let you know if they still need to review it. The same screen covers the read-only team view link, and downloads through either link stop as well.

That wording matters if you archive as soon as a job is approved. An archived link used to read "Review link not found", which made a finished job look like you had sent a bad address, and clients would come back asking whether the link was broken. The screen now says what actually happened, which is that the review is closed.

A link that never existed, or one where the address was mistyped, still shows the not-found screen. The two cases are deliberately different, so when a client sends you a screenshot you can tell a finished job from a bad link.

What happens to your files. Your files, the feedback and any approval certificate stay on your account. Archiving does move the files into long-term storage in the background, so a file you archived a while ago can take a moment longer to open the first time.

Unarchiving. Open the Archived filter on your dashboard, or the request itself, and choose Unarchive. The original link starts working again exactly as it did before, so if a client needs another look you can re-send the link they already have instead of creating a new request.
